Time Management – How To Improve Productivity In Network Marketing

by Mavis Nong on September 28, 2009

Are you managing time effectively in your home business and being productive throughout the day? Are you drowning in information and finding yourself lost in the forest? Are you a slave to your e-mails and phone calls? If so, you have company…

Time management is something that a lot of network marketers struggle with – being overwhelmed because there’s so much information to take in, so much to learn especially when you’re starting a new business. You want to do it all and have it all right now! It’s even more challenging if you’re working full-time. It’s really hard to figure out how to balance it all – how to work your business around your job, your family and all your other commitments. You only have a couple of hours a night and weekends to work on your business.

There are a lot of ways to manage your time and what works for other people may not work for others. However, I wanna share with you some tips that are working for me:

I recently listened to my friend and top earner in my company, Gregg Davison on his webinar about time management and he shared some great tips that you may find useful:

  • Check your e-mails ONCE A DAY – at the end of the day,
  • Answer your e-mails in short sentences and move on – only spend 30 minutes on e-mails,
  • Keep your phone(s) off or on silent and schedule 30-60 minutes block to return calls and connect with prospects at the end of the day.

You’ll notice that phone calls and e-mails should only be dealt with at the end of the day. Why? Because they are the primary disruptions in this day and age. So, in order to be productive you need to prioritise your activities in terms of urgency and importance.

Plan your attack and attack your plan! Gregg has a fantastic daily planner and adopting it has helped me to improve my productivity a great deal. Have you got one in place? Are you following it religiously?

Have you got any time management tips? Please leave a comment so you can share them with everyone.

Time management is by far the most difficult thing for most people to manage in any business. And when you don’t have a boss to answer to, it becomes even harder.

There are several pieces of software available that you set up in advance. Then, if you work on a computer, the software actually makes sure you are doing the work as you schedule. For example it won’t even let you access your email except during the time you designate.

May be a bit much for some people, but for those of us who are easily distracted it’s a life saver.

That’s very true, Henry. It’s a challenge for many self-employed people.

Anything that would help people manage their time properly :)

I am working online and time management was my first problem. But what I did what I treat my online job as not an online job. I pretend that I I have a bus to catch or a traffic to beat. So I have to wake up early in the morning doing the same routine everyday during weekdays. That helps me a lot.
