You have probably spent days, weeks or even months creating your brand new, stunning blog with cool graphics and all that. You’re so excited about the idea of blogging! Now you are hoping for some traffic to come through to make you money.
You know, days and weeks go by without any activity on your blog. I mean no traffic, no sales and no money in your pocket. However, you are so determined to get your blog out there.
So you do some research online and stumble upon the information on how to use Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to get your blog ranked higher in the search engines and to drive traffic to your blog and into your business ultimately.
What exactly is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?
Don’t let this term put you off! It basically means that your website will show up higher in the search engines when people search for your specific keywords. And it’s FREE!
Now, the reason why this marketing strategy is so powerful, is because, it has been proven that more people prefer to click on the organic search results (on the left-hand side) in Google rather than on the sponsored links (on the right-hand side). The former are not paid for and are deemed more relevant.
Organic Search Traffic Is Now KING More Than Ever Before!
The key is to identify your market – people that you know would be interested in what you have to offer. Then make sure that your website content is tailor-made and targeted to that specific market, by using the relevant keywords.
Now, in order to ensure that your keyword research is effective, you need to use the necessary tools so that you can understand what people are searching on. There are multitude of tools to choose from – free, low-cost and expensive ones. Simply search for “keyword research tools”. Google’s free tools are some of the best ones out there and they can help you to do a thorough analysis.
You also need to use your keyword(s) in your Title, Meta Tags and Description so that Google can be able to locate your blog. What’s the point if your creation cannot be found?
You need to give Google exactly what they want so that your page can get ranked on the first page faster and stay there for a long time:
1) Quality CONTENT
2) Quality INBOUND LINKS
3) Ongoing ACTIVITY (traffic, blog comments, RSS subscriptions)
Now, this is just a summary of what SEO is all about. If you would like to learn more about this powerful marketing strategy, I invite you to download your FREE copy of the SEO Report by my good friend, Ana Hoffman and learn about the best SEO tips.

If you ever wanted to master SEO, this is your chance. Don’t miss it!

Hi Mavis,
you say it's just a summary of what SEO is all about – providing good summaries is an art in itself and you provided a very good one. Especially the three items at the end of your post say it all: Content, links and activity.

Hi Mavis, being able to rank on the first page, especially when you have a low or no budget to market your business is priceless. Great Info Mavis. Ghyslain
Hi Mavis,
SEO seems to be a mystery to a lot of people. I've seen comments where bloggers haven't heard of it, or don't want to learn a bit about it.
A couple of points to think about.
If your website ranks well without SEO, imagine what a bit of tweaking will do for your rankings,
and what if your doing something accidentally to hurt your serps, and don't even know your doing it.
This is Googles world, at least for now. Why not learn their rules.
Just sayin'
Neil
Hello Mavis
I like your statement “Organic Search Traffic Is Now KING More Than Ever Before!”
It will be interesting to see how Google search results change in the next few years, especially with targeted personal results.
Regardless keyword niche research will be more important than ever.
Basically, it would increase your potential visitors that would later be converted into your clients. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. This is why SEO is very important to business and site owners.
That’s true.
I enjoyed reading your blog. You have got some good tips I can use Thanks
Mavis that is a great book by Ana and glad she provides such value for free.
The same with you this is a great overview of how to make SEO work for you not against you. Thanks for all your hardwork and research.

Hi Mavis,
Great info. Seo can be quite intimidating but it's something you need to learn. When your blogging utilizing the meta data is very important. Once you learn how meta data works it's pretty simple.
Mavis,
I am so very touched! …and honored.
Great post on SEO; very good way to simplify a seemingly intimidating topic.
By the way, I keep thinking about our little tribe since I read Ryan's report – we have the “activity” part of it under the belt
(well, probably not entirely).

One of the most important tips for search engine optimization is to get inbound links. This is for the reason that the more inbound links you will have from other popular site to your website, the easier it will become for you to get better ranking from search engines. For this reason, you must strive to get as many of these as possible. It gives credibility to your site and helps you to improve your ranking on the search engines.

It’s amazing how many people think that quantity is more important then quality- but little do they know that only a fraction of their comments get posted that way. Why do you think so many companies and people dismiss the “quality” factor of SEO and content still?
I believe in quality than quantity, Sam
Mavis

Optimization is very important to increase traffic and all the right techniques has been discussed in this post. When I first came to know about seo I was completely clueless but reading more about it and interacting with those practicing seo made me learn more about seo.
Same here, Mel.
I agree whole heatedly that onsite SEO is simple when you break it down so easily as both you and Ana seem to do on your blogs. If someone was just starting out in internet marketing and asked me where they should start, I would tell them to bookmark both of your blogs!
