Are You Taking Advantage of the Niche Social Bookmarking Sites to Drive More Blog Traffic?

Are You Taking Advantage of the Niche Social Bookmarking Sites to Drive More Blog Traffic? Are you taking advantage of the niche social bookmarking sites to drive more blog traffic?

When you hear of the bookmarking sites, you immediately think of the big sites like StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg, Delicious and so forth.

Let’s face it, what are the chances of rising above the noise and hitting the home page on these networks?

They are way too busy!

Don’t get me wrong, you can still get some exposure and drive traffic back to your blog, however, I have found that the niche social bookmarking sites offer great benefits:

  • You can focus on using the social bookmarking networks in your niche. For example, blogging, internet marketing, small business etc.
  • Mingle with and learn from the best of the best in your niche. Hang out with like-minded individuals.
  • Join a community of members with one goal – to help each other to stand out and drive more blog traffic.

I have joined 5 of these niche social bookmarking communities and I use them to promote my newly published content and to interact with fellow bloggers and entrepreneurs.

1. Blokube

Blokube is a social community site for bloggers and internet marketers. The idea behind this site is to promote interaction among bloggers with the goal to create meaningful discussions and build up quality comments. There is also a voting system where members vote on each other’s content.

It covers blogging, marketing, SEO, SEM, make money online, business news, web development/design and more.

2. Blog Interact

Blog Interact is a community that allows bloggers, writers, photo and video journalists, and those that are simply interested in various blog and multi-media topics to come together, submit their favorite story, photos, videos, and more, and then engage and “interact” with one another.

The categories include blogging, business, SEO/SEM, lifestyle, web design and so on.

3. BizSugar

BizSugar is a social bookmarking network focusing on news and tips for small businesses. If your article gets 15 and more votes, it will hit the home page, generating massive exposure for and traffic to your blog.

It covers business startups, marketing, legal affairs, management, technology and so forth.

4. SERPd

SERPd is a social bookmarking site dedicated to professionals in SEO, SEM, internet marketing, web development, website design and the like. The top 10 users over the past 30 days get featured on the home page. The most active users get the most exposure on SERPd!

With the SERPd button, it easy for you to share your posts and get more votes by displaying a vote button on your blog.

5. Blog Engage

Blog Engage is a social bookmarking network and community created for bloggers. It allows members to submit their articles for review and promotion.

Stories on the home page can also be shared to the other networks, giving them even more exposure.

Blog Engage runs regular guest blogging contests that you should definitely take advantage of to promote your blog and network with other bloggers.

Niche Social Bookmarking Sites Key Takeaway

These niche social bookmarking sites are growing rapidly and they generate a lot of traffic that you too can get access to – for free! The key is to be consistent with submitting your articles.

You also need to be mindful of the universal law of reciprocity: “give endlessly to receive abundantly”. The more you share and comment on other people’s content, the more they will do the same for you.

I highly recommend that you join these niche social bookmarking communities if you haven’t done so already. Start sharing, interacting and driving more blog traffic!

Over to you now…

  • Are you currently using these sites? If so, what’s your experience?
  • What are the other blogging/internet marketing social bookmarking communities that you’re aware of?

What’s good about these niche social bookmarking sites is that you’ll get more link juice from them because they are directly related to your site’s topic. Thanks for the list, Mavis. :)

You’re very correct. Bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumbleupon and so on are very difficult to top. It’s better to try out some less popular niche bookmarking sites for targeted traffic.

Getting connected to niche networks is a fantastic way to bring in more traffic, and expand your marketing reach. It’s worth trying a few to pick the ones which suit your niche and style the best.

You mentioned all my favorites in there Mavis. Love the law of reciprocity mention in there too!

Great content and glad you mentioned Blokube! Absolutely love the site and its specific community for internet marketers and bloggers. The voting tool Blokube uses is very unique and I havent seen many others as neat as theirs.

As far as the other four you have mentioned, I have not used them hardly at all. They seem very helpful and interesting. Definitely on my to do list.

Hi Mavis, thanks for this post. I have used Blog Interact, Blokube and Blog Engage, however I have not used Biz Sugar much or Serpd much. I guess the three I have used have more of a “LIfestyle” section, where as the other two need to be tailored more to internet marketing or SEO… which I suppose I could certainly throw in my two bits from time to time.

I am really looking just to break through that ‘ice’ … so I need to put more effort into getting out there to make some decent progress.

Now the kiddos are back in school, I will have to strategically plan and DO.

Thanks for the great reviews and reminder.

I have to ask what do you do to help ensure your ‘shares’ (for lack of a better term) get the attention they deserve once on those sites? What seems to work for you?

Hi Mavis, niche bookmarking sites and blog communities like Blokube and the others mentioned in your post, offer great benefits especially for SEO and traffic if a post manages to reach the home page for its category. Variety and diversity of links is a very important element of ranking well in the search engines. We must take advantage of every single resource there is out that will add to our benefits.

The other three mentioned here are also niche specific and each one supports an industry well. To get maximum exposure, you may of course submit to ALL the platforms. My personal favorite is Blogengage because of it;s RSS syndication, we are using the Top business solution they offer and it’s great value to offer our clients.
