Facebook Marketing Strategies That You Need to Start Cashing in on!

by Mavis Nong on April 13, 2012

Facebook Marketing Strategies That You Need to Start Cashing in on!Facebook has become the most popular social media site on the planet!

It has some 800 million users. If it was a country, it would be the third largest, behind China and India. Incredible!

Now, do you know how to use it properly to pull in profits?

If you’re not making money on Facebook right now, then listen up my friend!

Here are some of the things that could be stopping you to make money on Facebook:

1. Not Understanding Your Audience

As I mentioned earlier, Facebook now has some 8o0 million users. Understanding your audience is so important because if you don’t get this right then who you are going to target?

Targeting the wrong audience will make you fail miserably in generating targeted Facebook traffic and making money.

What is more, I think that targeting and understanding your audience are linked to each other. So think about your audience and who they are.

Is your audience females or males? Maybe both? Their age and interests? Write everything down so you don’t miss anything out.

2.Not Using Facebook Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising

Facebook is now biggest and first social platform to use Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads – an online marketing dream! Everyone and their grandma are on Facebook.

Why is Facebook PPC much better than Google Adwords?

Google Adwords has far more advertisers than what Facebook has, the market within it has been saturated to a level where the costs for PPC clicks are really high.

Contrastingly, as Facebook is still rather new in the PPC market, they are able to get an equal amount of impressions as Adwords, but for a lesser cost on PPC, which explains why more advertisers are inclined towards opening up Facebook business pages and focusing more on Facebook PPC campaigns.

Apart from that, with a Facebook PPC campaign, you are able to target your ads demographically with more accuracy, as they are more exact, and directly down to the person.

You are able to also choose the age group that you would like to target as well as cities, states and provinces! Powerful!

3. Not Having a Facebook Fan Page

A LOT of marketers still don’t have a fan page, which takes just a few minutes to set up.

Facebook pages are so powerful as they offer free word of mouth advertising.

Even big companies are using these pages to promote their brand and stay connected to their customers. They send their customers to their fan pages – the new world of advertising!

So, if these big fortune 500 companies are taking advantage of Facebook pages, what are you still waiting for?

This is where I ask you to “Like” my page.

4. Not Using Application Tabs

When someone new visits your fan page, you want them to get a feel of what your page is all about and attract them to become a fan and get on your list, by using application tabs.

The goal should be to offer your fans something that can help them in their businesses.

5. Not Using Facebook Events to Promote Your Business

You can create an event or your page to promote a sale, limited time only offer or a special event.

This is a very effective way to get your business activities in front of your audience, because you can target people who are already connected to you or your business on Facebook. As they are already connected with you on Facebook, you already know that they’re interested in they type of products and services that you offer.

If done properly, using Facebook events can be a great way to add to your other marketing activities.

Key Takeaway

You know I could go on and on about what you need to be doing right now to get your business rocking on Facebook.

So, where do you even begin?

Hi Mavis, I plan to start an advertising promotion on Facebook soon and I know that the audience will be much more targeted than if I did the same ad with AdWords. For example I can target people by their personal hobbies and pages they like rather than just targeting things they search for on Google.

Thanks for the post Mavis.

No problem my dear :) I was wondering if you ever had the chance to check out Lujure for making Facebook apps. I’m using it to create some really awesome apps and it’s super simple with drag and drop widgets. I’d love to see a review of Lujure from you. I did one earlier and I’ll leave a link in CommentLuv in case you want to give it a look.

Ryan Biddulph April 13, 2012 at 9:18 AM

Hi Mavis,

Facebook is so big, it’s just silly. The scale of numbers is awe-inspiring, and people who use FB poorly – or not at all – simply ignore how big the network is.

Grow your business at an alarming rate of speed. Use FB. Each day. Add value, become valuable. Get inside the head of your audience. I love the idea of writing stuff down. Pen a list. Cover all bases. Informed entrepreneurs become successful quickly, because they can match their opportunity with a person’s needs, or wants.

Take time to understand your audience. It is the most prospering thing you can do as an online business coach.

Thanks for sharing your insight Mavis.

James Debono April 13, 2012 at 11:52 AM

Hi Mavis,
Facebook is quite often the elephant in the room for business. They know it is there, they know there customers are on it and there competition is on it however they still seem reluctant to get involved.

As Ryan said the shear scale and numbers is far too big to ignore, business owners that have reacted and invested both time and resource into developing a strategy and building engaged communities are succeeding.

Hi Mavis,

This is a great list – one that I am going to come back to because though I definitely use Facebook I don’t use it to it’s potential. I use my page to promote my new blog posts and to connect with people but I’m not using the tabs feature or the events. Now that I’ve got Pinterest on autopilot I can put some more focus onto Facebook again. :)

Have a great weekend,

Informative post Mavis!

Though I do have my fan-page, but I haven’t really used it up to the extent you mentioned and am totally surprised with all that you can really do with Facebook!

I did hear about the advts, but have no idea how they work out and how they are different from the Google Adwords and how to really go about them. I guess I better go over and read your post about it to learn more.

I just started using the application tabs and the free ones are wonderful, though I believe there are many more that you can add to your Facebook.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece with us. :)

Hi, Mavis,

I agree with Martha that your blog never disappoints! I hope this blog post will become the ‘wake up call’ for some business people who are not yet into leveraging the power of FaceBook.

I have not been using events as much as I should be. Have to get more strategic about that! FaceBook PPC is definitely something this is worth seriously looking into. I have heard people getting good results.

Having a wonderful platform is great, we still have to offer value and work daily to engage with our audience. I could not agree more with my friend Ryan Biddulph’s comments :)

This space has generated way more value than just your precious blog content. I appreciate you all, Mavis and your fans/friends :)

Understanding your audience is key. Sure, there may be over 800 million Facebook users, but the goal isn’t to try and please them all and make them all follow you. You should only care about your target audience and their needs. A good social media presence relies on good content that will keep your followers engaged.
