Empower Network – 5 Reasons Why I’m NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

Following the masses?...

I want to believe that you have heard a LOT about Empower Network…

…unless you have been living under a rock.

Everyone seems to think that it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not here to try and get you to join this platform.

This is a different review. Very different.

You see, since this system came on to the scene, I have been pitched a thousand times – I’m not kidding!

I keep receiving endless messages everywhere (emails, Skype, social media, you name it!). It’s driving me nuts!

The painful reality is, this is a common problem. I’ve heard from a few people that they also get bombarded with unending spammy messages about Empower Network.

Attraction Marketing

Attraction Marketing is the most powerful concept that you can use in your business to attract laser-targeted prospects to you, without pushing your opportunity down their throats.

I understand that the training in Empower Network is top-notch and the products are second to none.

Now, how come most of the members don’t know how to promote this system using the right attraction marketing strategies?

Moving on…

In this post, I’m going to share exactly why I’m not joining Empower Network.

1. Personal Branding

I have spent the last couple of years, working on building my own brand and I don’t think I have done badly. What do you think?

I have created my blog to build my own brand. There is only one me and I’m using my blog to set me apart and to allow people to connect with me as a real person.

Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

Personal branding is critical when you’re building your business online. People always buy YOU first, then your products or services.

I have built a strong online presence – just google my name! I’m everywhere, literally. Yes, I’m not a “guru” like David Wood, but people know who I am and keep coming back to my blog to learn more and share with their followers.

Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

I have nothing against David, he is an amazing leader – his incredible results say it all. However, I’m not going to start promoting his brand like everyone is doing right now. He currently has thousands of people promoting his brand and growing his online presence more than ever before!

When you visit any Empower Network blog, you get welcomed by a picture of David (half-naked) in the header and the prominent opt-in form featuring his story.

Then, you suddenly realise that someone else (affiliate/member) wrote the posts (not David), as you read the author box. There’s a disconnect!

Would the visitors be interested in/connected with the author (affiliate/member) or David?

See what I mean?

If you’re promoting Empower Network right now, you’re promoting David Wood, not you. You’re creating a buzz around his name, not yours. He is going to be HUGE more than he is at present… What about you?

As a marketer, your goal should be to build Your Inc. And, this is one of the things that Mike Dillard teaches in his revolutionary marketing course, Magnetic Sponsoring.

If you don’t own a copy of this course, then you’re NOT serious about growing your business. If you do, I advise you to read it again. I did recently.

When you have your brand in place, no one will take it away from you – it’s ALL yours. If your company goes bust or something, you still have your own brand – very powerful!

So, I’d rather keep doing what I’m doing now – that is, promoting my own brand and growing my online presence, no matter what it takes. I’m not going to abandon it or dilute it with someone’s.

2. Staying Focused

Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]The huge mistake that marketers usually make is to do everything all at once.

The worst thing that you can do to your business is to try EVERY new marketing tool, product, system that comes out, jump ships or even get involved with multiple opportunities at the same time.

Don’t fall a victim of the “Shiny Object Syndrome”, chasing the latest and the greatest shiny objects.

How on earth will you focus on your business? This is definitely the fastest way to KILL your business! You’ll get nowhere.

When I share my content in the Facebook groups, I always see the walls there covered with the new programmes, new systems, new products and new companies, DAILY.

You know, things like “turn $2 into $20,000 in 30 days”, “turn $10 into $10,000 over and over again” etc.

I never take a look at them. Why? I have everything I need to build my business. Focus is so key.

I have transformed my blog from zero to where it is today, without a paid blogging system (I don’t need one)!

I have developed my own perpetual marketing system that I use to blast my blog into hyperspace and pump endless traffic on a daily basis.

I’ll keep doing what I’m doing because my strategies work and I teach others how to blog so they can duplicate my success too.

Additionally, I have found a cutting-edge online marketing system that works and get my team members to plug in to get the results.

Remember F.O.C.U.S. = Follow One Course Until Successful.

3. Be Different

We all know that almost everyone is promoting Empower Network right now. And, David is a very happy man. Very happy. He has a LOT of people getting his brand out there.

Here’s the thing, when everyone is running in one direction, you run in the opposite or you stay where you are. When they come running back, you’re the one they come back to.

Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

Be unique and get ahead of the pack!

They will know that you’re solid and serious about building your own brand and business.

Don’t go with the flow. Stand your ground and be focused on what’s already working for you.

You gotta ask yourself: “Is what everyone jumping on, future-proof?”, “Are you standing out from the crowd?”

A few days ago, while sharing content in various Facebook groups, I stumbled upon 3 links to blog posts on the same topic, on the different individual Empower Network blogs.

I’m guessing even more members used the very same topic/post.

Those articles are not unique. They are not original.

I’m not sure how this fits in with Google’s way of rewarding blogs containing high quality, well-researched, unique content that offers value to visitors searching for real information.

When it comes to building a successful blog or online business, you need to be original. Don’t do things like everyone else does. Dare to be different and you’ll stand out and attract more traffic, leads and sales.

People are searching high and low for an element of personality that stands out from the crowd – you need to give it to them, by promoting your own brand and grounding your content in who you are.

4. High Expectations

In my honest opinion, I think Empower Network is too hypey. People are made to believe that they only need to create content and they will start generating traffic, leads and sales.

Well, I beg to differ. Successful blogging takes a lot more than that. I’m talking from experience here.

It’s not surprising hearing about members who have no idea how to run their blogs to get the results they are after. I have also seen a thread on Facebook, people asking about what to write about. They have obviously hit writer’s block and need help with blog post ideas.

Granted, there are top marketers who have made thousands of dollars since the inception of Empower Network. Why?

They have an advantage as they are experienced, they know how to market and recruit in their sleep and have a huge following already.

Sadly, it’s being promoted as the solution for the masses. People need to know that it’s going to take hard work, time and effort to get the results.

Let’s take a look at the biggest hype of all time…

5. 100% Commissions

What’s really attracting the masses to Empower Network is the claim that you can make 100% commissions by just blogging.

Now, from what I have learned, it turns out that you have to pass up some sales and forfeit 100% commissions on your second, fourth and sixth sales. So, you only make 100% commissions on your first, third and fifth sales! Huh?!

I definitely don’t want to be passing up 50% of my commissions whilst working on growing my team so I get pass-ups as well.

I honestly thought 100% commissions meant 100% all the way, until I heard otherwise.

The small print is on the actual contract, while their adverts and promotions are leading with 100% commissions.

So, this claim is misleading, if you ask me.

Want to know how I make 100% commissions every single day, without fail?Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

I create and sell my own products. This is the ONE skill that will make ALL the difference in your business. Period.

No monthly fees. Pure profit. 100% commissions. You gotta love that! Empower Network 5 Reasons Why Im NOT Joining the Masses [Unbiased Review]

And, when you sell your own products, you actually “kill many birds with one stone” – promoting your brand, generating traffic, pulling money from the sky (real 100% commissions)…

Empower Network Key Takeaway

It’s not my place to tell you whether to join or leave Empower Network. It’s your choice. It’s your business.

I’m only sharing my thoughts and the reasons why I haven’t jumped on to the bandwagon, like the masses have.

Some people have said to me, “Mavis, you’re missing out. With your blogging experience, you’ll do very well with Empower Network”.

Hopefully, this post will shed some light and help them see what my priorities are and how I choose to run my blog and business.

“It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.” ~ Anthony Robbins

Hey Mavis

Excellent analysis, however I have a couple of points.

First, the 100% commission really refers to the fact that 100% of the commissions earned as a whole are paid out, no overhead expenses.

Given that, you break even with just one sale and even though you do pass up some of your recruits you also have an opportunity to receive pass ups.

No other mlm can compete with that payment structure.

Second, it is cheap and a great way for someone who is new online to get their feet wet without spending a fortune.

As for branding, all mlm’s are setup to brand the mlm. Of course we know how to brand ourselves in front of any mlm and that is no different for the Empower Network.

I can think of a number of ways to brand yourself in front of the Empower Network and take advantage of the PR.

Hi Peter,

This is the statement I see around: “Join Empower Network, start blogging…….and getting 100% commissions from every sale you make.”

We have already established that this claim is not true, since there are pass-ups.

It would be great to see members branding themselves on the front end and recommending EN as a resource or something.

Thanks for the visit and comment, Peter.

Well it appears by the amount of comments that you have struck up a good topic. Definitely one that needs to be talked about. And yes everyday there is someone spamming my groups and emails with Empower Network. How about we just empower ourselves….

Mavis I loved this post. We have to promote ME, brand ME or YOU LOL, but this is exactly it, you have to get your readers to connect with you not the “Guru”… “Personal branding is critical when you’re building your business online. People always buy YOU first, then your products or services” second. That was your line and I could not agree more. Stop following the masses and just be YOU, market YOU. Thanks again Mavis for your presence online.

Hi Mavis,

We all make different choices from where we stand and do the best we can. We see gold in different places. I had a moral/ethical reflection and question after reading the post and the following comments.

Where do we stand regarding loyalty to one another as marketers and leaders?

Ps I bet the Daves appreciate your advertisement:)

Hi Mavis!

Sarcastic? The comment on “free” advertisment for The Daves? If so, it was more of a fact. Your review did give them some more attention.

On loyalty. It is an open reflection.

I´ve been thinking that if I didn´t like your concept (or the way you dress) I don´t think I´d spread it all over the internet with your name and company on it.

Whatever my personal opionions, I´d still want to respect your methods.

But then again, I don´t know. I haven´t come across such a situation. You brought the thought to my attention.

We´re all collegues, right? :)

Hi Sanna,

Can I just remind you that this post is not intended to tell people NOT to join this company. I’m simply sharing the reasons why I haven’t joined, just like you have recently written a review, sharing the reasons why people should join.

People write reviews all the time – good or bad. In fact, David Wood has written a ton of reviews (sharing the good, the bad and the ugly) on the individual marketers and network marketing companies, since he got started online. This is a common practice.

At the end of the day, people need to do their own due diligence and make informed decisions, which the reviews are informative or misleading.

I just read your reasons why you didn’t join Empower Network and they might be good reasons, BUT there are many problems that people face in the real world.

And there are some arguments here that are not 100% realistic:

1) People buy YOU first??? This is a myth that some people believe and it’s not completely true in the real world… I mean what’s better known? Coca-Cola or the creator? Facebook or the “creator”? Google or the creator”?

If you have SOMETHING that people want they will go to YOU, but ONLY IF you have something they want.

I’m making good money just by promoting other people’s products, and that is the TRUTH.

2) Personal Branding??? I mean, personal branding sounds cool, but how do you develop that personal brand and reputation?
Just by looking pretty and saying you know a lot? You know a lot about what?

If you know a lot about selling is because you already sold a lot.
If you are good at marketing, it’s because you put marketing strategies that got results.

But how you get good at selling and marketing?
Putting it into practice and getting EXPERIENCE on that.

How do you put it into practice?
By promoting products.

Would it make sense promote your own products on how to sell or how to market, if you never marketed SUCCESSFULLY before?

Market, make sales and get results… With products that are already made…

NOW you can brand yourself because you have experience on the topic.

Jonathan Budd got famous because he promoted Mike Dillard really well and won a contest.

David Wood got famous because he promoted MLSP and other products really well.

Mike Dillard got famous because he promoted his MLM opportunity very well and with a unique strategy.

I’m getting known because I sell well The Elevation Group, Empower Network and other products.

Michael Jordan got famous because he was REALLY good at playing basketball, not because he had a personal blog promoting himself.

3) Believe it or not, not everybody in the worlds want to be famous.
Personal branding is cool, but NOT needed.
What about those people who just want to make extra cash while doing their dream career or life, but don’t want to be famous and spread their faces all over the Internet?

Do we have to force them to get famous?

I think we need to be open minded and understand that everybody is different and has different aspirations.

If they don’t want to be famous, they can just promote something REALLY effective that pays them really well and instantly, like Empower Network.

Why not?
Because they have to be famous and brand themselves??

I hope the whole world doesn’t become famous! lol

3) When people go online they’re looking for SOLUTIONS.
You can go to the FREE Google Keyword Tool and see what’s more searched, ‘Mavis Nong’ or ‘Make Money Online’?

When I want to buy a 27″ iMac, I go online and type ’27″ iMac’, I don’t type Ramon Polo, or Mavis Nong.

The KEY is that they find YOU while they looking for a solution or product…

and THAT is exactly what Empower Network teaches you.

When they type ’27″ iMac’ they can find ME.

HINT: There’s more searches and more demand for iMacs than for me (Incredible, I know!)

4) Create your own products.
It sounds easy doesn’t it? It’s only 4 words to say… But to do it’s WAY different.

So there’s somebody who comes online, who knows NOTHING about online marketing, business, etc.

They ask me all desperate for help.
They need to make money, but don’t want to be famous or a superstar.

They just want to have a peaceful life to live with their families (yes, believe it or not I have people like that… Who don’t want to be famous!).

So when this happens, you want me to say to them, realistically, “Create Your Own Products”.

I mean… Creating your own TRUSTWORTHY info-product shouldn’t be about something that you know SOOOOOOOO MUCH. Something that will help people… About something that you can teach because you have EXPERIENCE on?

Mike Dillard spent YEARS learning about investment before publishing The Elevation Group.
And now he’s gonna wait more YEARS until he writes a book about investment.

If you create info-product they MUST be good and helpful… And not to make extra money and brand yourself.

That’s how you help the world.

I hope this words are helpful.

I respect your opinion, but I just wanted to make my opinion too :)

Cheers!

Thanks for your opinion, Ramon. This post is about me sharing the reasons why I decided not to join. I don’t need Empower Network to learn how to blog or how to make money. I know how to do that and I teach people how to do exactly that.

When I got started, I didn’t have my own products – the thought never crossed my mind. I have now learned how to do it and that’s how I make 100% commissions. I don’t expect a newbie to create a product about something they know nothing about.

This post is not about telling people to join or NOT to join EN. It’s their choice. I made mine based on the reasons I shared above. You have made your choice based on your own reasons.

Brief Question: Is there anything wrong with adding another
stream of income with EN. Maybe you can still brand yourself
with your primary and just add EN as your backend to your downline
or list of prospects that you followup with.

Personally have not joined EN and probably don’t intend to right now.
Quite a few heavyhitters that I’m aware of have jumped on the EN
Bandwagon.

Reply

Ramon Polo January 13, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Exactly.

You can do that perfectly.

You just gotta know how to use it properly.

Not everyone in Empower Network will teach you the right way to market, but if you join the right team and mentors, you have higher possibilities to use it the right way for you and your business ;)

Hello Mavis:
You go girl. You are so right. A good example was back in the days, there was a gentleman name Don Lapre that sold this 39.99 Info. course how to make money by placing little tiny classified adds all over the place. Because of his hyper personality, he end up making a killing selling the course on the front and back end. So every time he would come out with another product, it sold like wildfire because of his branded hyper personality. The funny thing about it he was selling old public domain info that you could get from the library. Another thing If I have 10000 people branded me, that means I have a list that I will
always make money. From every product launch in the future. Shoot I can sell a kitchen sink to my list and I will make money. Keep it real

The issue that I see with EN is their different levels of
income. From the low end of $25 to the high end of
$500. If someone joins you at the highend or upgrades
from the lowend to the highend, unless you upgrade
yourself, you don’t receive those higher 100% commissions.

Agree, the magic happens at the highend, but it seems that you
are forced into a $500.00 upgrade. EN gets you in at the low
end $25 or whatever level you choose. Lets stick with the low
end to get started and then you bring someone in at your expense
who also joins at the low end, but shortly upgrades to the highend.
You’ll lose that highend income, because you’re still at the lowend.
Sounds like I’m going around in circles here with their compensation
plan. No matter what level one is at, they should get credit for income
coming in from prospects that were personally brought in to this
opportunity and I guess that wouldn’t work out, because if everybody
did that, this opportunity wouldn’t work. So I guess the idea, is to get
you to upgrade with their more expensive $100 and $500 products.

I totally agree with all you have said in this post Mavis and truly believe that once you know how to brand yourself via attraction marketing there is no better way to go.

Really, I am very surprised the amount of people that jumped on the EN band wagon didn’t realise they were not promoting themselves. I think David Wood is a great guy and lets face it …… he didn’t get where he is today by hiding under a rock…. he used the art of attraction marketing and they came in droves.

When people approach me and want to know the secret to making money online I always advise them to brand themselves via a value driven blog – your online office.

I agree 100% Mavis.

I got inundated with many similar invitations – “Jym, you’re already producing great blog content, just join and make some extra money … etc… ”

Fact is, from where I’m sitting, my effort is better put in to building my own business – which is Blogger’s Alchemy – not my name (to pick up on an argument raised by Ramon further up the comments). Thing is, my efforts go into my longer term business, not spreading Empower Network for the benefit of David Wood.

David is utterly brilliant, as you said, his results speak for themselves. But his marketing does indeed get a little shady with the 100% stuff and it is totally ‘shiny new object’ material. AS a side track, anyone wanting to understand what leverage is about would do well to observe David and his marketing strategies!

Anyway – nice to see your take on this and I hope it will help others to consider both sides of whether EN is right for them.

Cheers!

Wow Mav I can’t tell you how much I needed to hear this. I joined EN in the beginning of January, I was told I can promote my business (which is true) while earning affiliate sales. I loved that idea. I have been really struggling with my decision on to keep EN or make my own personal blog with my own info and own videos. I have heard that you can customize EN, but to what extent. I really want to promote myself and my mlm company. I got to think about this. It is true also that many of the people who are making money have a list of people already.

This is a very serious article you’ve written and I couldn’t agree with you more.

I have been working hard at my internet marketing business for almost a year now. I developed my own style and stuck to it. No replication of any kind and I made myself the product by engaging business owners with my free seminars. Friends thought I was going about it all wrong in the beginning, but now the proof is in the pudding so to speak. Not only do I have plenty of clients, but I have the kind of clients that call me with referrals to more clients! Customer loyalty at its best.

Once again, thank you. Your passion is felt through your words and I enjoy being a groupie at your site. You had me from hello!

Hi Mavis!

First, love your blog! You are someone else that I follow (of course, I follow that “half naked” guy David too!)

Anyway, first time to post to your blog.

I appreciate this post quite a bit. I thought for a while that I was the only one thinking that there was a little bit too much of a “hype” feel to this program. Of course, David is an incredible marketer and good promoters often create hype about themselves and their products without really trying to.

As for me, I’m still on the fence about the system. I usually don’t jump to new ones in the first place. I appreciate the training that is promoted with the empower network, just hope that most of it is accurate and that people understand that this stuff really requires a lot of work…you know that stuff that makes you “lucky.”

I’ve found some spots where I think I could market this program and generate some income from it, but I don’t ALWAYS join something because I can make a buck. In our efforts to promote and brand ourselves I certainly feel like anything I do online must adhere to a certain self created brand of who I am and what I am doing here. So much of the time people that come to my site realize that I am truly interested in helping them and not just using them as my latest and greatest next income stream and that is something I want to protect.

Once again, thanks for the wonderful post.

Hi Mark! Welcome to my blog! :)

The training is great, no doubt about that. People need to realise that it takes time and it requires effort, patience and persistence.

Agreed, it’s all about helping people, but we can use systems to plug them in to the right training.

Thanks for stopping by and for your very first comment here, Mark :)

See you soon.
