How To Display A Small Icon On Your Blog Address And Tab

by Mavis Nong on July 30, 2010

One of the reasons why it is critical to have a blog when building your business online, is because it builds your brand. The more people see your blog, the more they want to see what you have to offer and will ultimately buy from you! So, it’s important for your blog to stand out from the rest.

You know when I visit different websites on the internet, I notice they have a small image next to the site address and on the tab like this:

If you ever wondered how this was done, wonder no more! My friend Michael B Wilbraham just shared an easy way to do this with me and I implemented it right away! How To Display A Small Icon On Your Blog Address And Tab

Bloggers and webmasters often pay a designer or programmer to have their listings appear more obvious, in the hope that they may attract a higher click through rate.

Imagine…how much you would have to pay if you wanted your blog listing to stand out from thousands of other websites?

There is a solution for you!

It is called “favicons” (short for “favourite icons”)!

A favicon is an excellent free branding tool for bloggers. It can help you create brand awareness by displaying a little favourite icon (favicon) in the title of your blog next to the URL.

Your own favicon will also attract more traffic to your blog by standing out against others who don’t sport a favicon themselves. Because of the increased visibility you now gain the opportunity to get a lot more repeat readers.

Normally, adding a favicon to your blog would require you to pay a designer to create a matching icon for your blog and then having to edit some files in WordPress. For non-technical bloggers this is fairly difficult How To Display A Small Icon On Your Blog Address And Tab

The solution is here – with the MaxBlogPress Favicon WordPress Plugin nobody has to ever touch any code anymore to display a catchy favicon on their blog.

You can have your very own favicon in less than 10 minutes by using the MaxBlogPress Favicon WordPress Plugin!

The MaxBlogPress favicon plugin comes with 100 pre-selected FREE favicons which you can choose from for your blog. No matter what your blog topic is, you name it and you’ll get it. You’ll find a suitable favicon for anything and everything.

If you can’t find a matching favicon for your blog, don’t panic! The plugin will show you some additional resources where you can get thousands of free favicons!

If you have perhaps designed your own favicon, or have already found one elsewhere, you can upload it from your hard drive using the plugin. As simple as that!

It’s YOUR turn now… Display your favicon and get your blog noticed!

Hey Mavis

Now everyone will be using favicons :)

All I ever did was drop my favicon in the root directory and it would appear right away.

I find WordPress a bit “clunky” in that the favicon would take its time appearing on posts.

I found that by uploading the favicon to the theme directory helped.

Now with that plugin it is all easy, thanks Mavis.
