Here’s what I thought of:
1.) Have the flexibility to increase the product price, or to allow time-sensitive promotions
2.) Have the flexibility to bundle multiple products for special offers
3.) Leverage on affiliate to build YOUR brand and your list
4.) Allows you to sell resale rights of your product, (which is a product by itself).

I’ve done something similar with my audio guide, I gave it as Christmas gift to my friends.
I think anyway, that affiliate marketing is still important, so probably a 50%/50% time dedicated on your products/ affiliate products is a reasonable solution.
I see that you use CommentLuv plugin, if you have time to surf, there are new CommentLuv enabled sites.

Great Article Mavis. I just want to make a point and an observation. I believe, in many instances there are individuals who learn how to become entrepreneurs by observing those who already are. In other words, you might have to work for someone else’s brand first, in order to learn how to do it(the basics, that is) before you can graduate to the next step and do the same with your own brand. So, like Manuel mentions above, 50-50 might work well until you are able to stay afloat on your own. I noticed you also have The Gold Rush Product and Phil Turner products on this page. Now that I think of it, the ideal look would be to have your own brand hi-lighted with the support of a couple of good affiliates.

I was on a webinar hosted by Willie Crawford not too long where he mentioned that you got to start thinking about developing your own products so that other more experienced marketers will take you more seriously. In this way they will be more inclined to do joint ventures with you which is something you’ll end up seeking eventually.
And even though affiliate marketing is a great way to get started as well as get a name for yourself provided you get good at it of course, it is just too awesome to have your own affiliate program for your own products as this would multiply earnings exponentially!
So looks like towards the middle of 2012 you’ll start seeing some fresh products from the MarketSecretsBlogger …
Sure I’ll probably start of alot sooner using quality plrs and such but the ultimate is creating a totally unique product from scratch

A friend of mine is doubting about start a business on 2012. Maybe I’ll show this to him and he could change his mind. Very nice post. This is always something that I’ve been meaning to get around to but just keep making excuses. One of the most difficult things I find about it is creating the sales, or splash page. They, or at least appear to me, somewhat challenging to write…..

Having your own product is definitely fantastic as it gives you a lot of leverage. Instead of looking for good converting offers, now you need to make your product a converting offer to attract affiliates. Though there are a lot more work involved, the results will speak for itself

I finally finished producing my first quality product and I invite all of you to check it out … it is a great product for anybody who needs to build a better relationship with their email list.
