Blogging – How To Get Rid Of The Writer’s Block **Part 1**

by Mavis Nong on June 16, 2010

Blogging How To Get Rid Of The Writers Block **Part 1**You have probably spent days, weeks or even months creating your brand new, stunning blog with cool graphics and all that. You’re so excited about the idea of blogging! But you soon realise that you just don’t know what to write about Blogging How To Get Rid Of The Writers Block **Part 1**

Some people get obsessed with the design and all the nice stuff… They write a few posts and then hit the wall and get the writers block. You know, days and weeks go by without them writing any posts. A fact is, if you don’t create content, people will not find you and you will not be able to build a successful business online.

So, if you are one of those people who struggle with what to write about, fret no more! Here are some ideas for your blog posts:

1) How-to’s - everybody wants to learn how to do something and there are so many things to learn. People love “how-to” posts. This is where you actually show people how to do something like I have done here.

2) Personal Stories – this is where you share your stories with your readers like this. You show your readers that you are a real person and live a normal life like them.

3) Reviews – for companies, products, systems, industry leaders, rising stars and so on. You need to know what’s going on in the industry and provide accurate information. People love reviews as they help them make decisions in most cases. Here is an example of a good company review.

4) Tutorials – they are more like “how-to’s”. This is where people can watch over your shoulder as you show them a step-by-step process of doing something on your computer like this.

5) Observations – as you move along your network marketing journey, you will come across things that you like or don’t like. When you share this, you will find that people with the same observations, connect with you.

6) Thoughts – this is where you share what’s on your mind with your readers. It might be about a bad day you have had, a fantastic day you have had or a great experience… anything really. Motivational videos make good posts as well.

7) Industry Events – announce the upcoming industry events and share the experience you had at them when you return.

Interviews – get in contact with the industry leaders online or at the live events and interview them! Creating and posting such interviews on your blog is very powerful – it builds your credibility. Your readers will not only benefit from the content shared but will associate you with those other successful people.

9) Marketing Updates – write about the new stuff in the industry such as new marketing strategy, new product/system or other relevant updates like this.

10) Mindset & Leadership Lessons – when you share these lessons, always show your readers how they have personally helped you in your life and business; very powerful!

11) Recycle your content – turn your videos, articles and press releases into blog posts; with a slight twist. For your articles and press releases, you can just post a link to them with a brief summary on your blog. You can also explore podcasting.

I cannot stress this enough – the key to successful blogging is consistency! Always deliver valuable content on a consistent basis so that your readers can keep coming back for more.

Top tip: create a blogging schedule (daily, once a week etc.) and stick to it.

Note: not everything you write needs keyword research and SEO. Sometimes you just need to write about fun and interesting things for your readers. Your goal should be to empower, enlighten and entertain your readers! Write about boring stuff, then you’ll lose your audience! Blogging How To Get Rid Of The Writers Block **Part 1**

No more excuses as you now have so much to write about… Now start blogging!

Great advice, Mavis – there is definitely enough here to overcome ANY writer's block! Of course, if we are honest with ourselves, we know very well that most of the times it's laziness or wrong priorities that prevent us from blogging:).

Here's what I do: I read a lot of other blogs/articles/etc on a daily basis. As I read them, I find many interesting things that I would like to write about. Just find a way to organize those ideas and every time you need to write a blog post, you have a running list of the topics.

Right now I have so many ideas, I could keep myself busy for weeks, and they keep coming!

Best,
Ana Hoffman

Hi Mavis nicely summarized. Sometimes I get a totally random thought that I write down and then just let it hibernate for awhile before I Blog -its annoying though when you get a great idea and then forget what it was all about and its gone forever-maybe i'm just getting old!!

continued success Kiaran

Excellent advice Mavis.

I do not struggle with writer's block, rather I struggle with the time to do it. I like the idea of creating a schedule.

Thanks.

Great article!

Thank You for sharing and providing so many ideas what to write about.

I think the big block shows up after a person started to post on a regular schedule but after a while is not getting any visual results from blogging…

With Respect,
Slavik G.

The main thing for writing is knowledge and brain storming. A writer should be free from fears and have grip our language as it is tool.

Hello Mavis,

I have experienced this and I am sure most of us do. This happens especially if you haven’t written for a long time and as a result it becomes a habit. So the key really here is to stay consistent no matter what. If you don’t know what to write, link to other people’s socially proven content and write about what you liked about that article and what you liked about the author, this way you are still giving value to your readers. Make it a habit and be consistent and you will rise at the top. Thanks again.

Wow, Sonny! I see you’re enjoying your stay here today – I love that! :)

I couldn’t agree with you more. There is just so much to write about, there shouldn’t be any excuses.

Thanks for the visit and for sharing that tip.

See you soon!

Nice post, even if you have quite an established web presence you will find that people stop coming back to your blog if you are not regularly putting stuff out.

Block is my biggest problems and that why I outsource content creation and publish quite a few guest posts (cheating).

Although I never really intended to blog to make money I stumbled across an amazing domain name which I bought and that then motivated me to start putting out content.

When I am totally blocked I revisit an old post, copy it into word and start typing on the end of it, as if I have not finished it – this allows me to ramble and come up with something as I go which I can then revisit and add more to.
